In this article, we will demonstrate the steps to create a full backup and recovery of Windows 11. The backup will use the system’s built-in image backup function, without the need for third-party software, which also supports Windows 10.

Click on the Start menu and enter Control Panel. Open the control panel, click on [System and Security] – click on [File History]
Then click on “System Image Backup” in the bottom left corner
In the left menu, click [Create System Image]
Next, the location where the backup needs to be stored will be loaded. Here is a description,
[System image can be used to restore a computer when a hard drive or computer stops running: however, individual items cannot be selected for restoration]
That is to say, when you encounter a computer malfunction, you can use it to restore your computer. It is a restoration of the entire drive and cannot achieve precise restoration. So you can do a backup when your computer is at its best or before trying some new software.
At this point, when we connect a USB external hard drive, we first need to ensure that it has enough space to store backups, at least larger than the space already used on your C drive.
After connecting, click refresh to recognize the portable hard drive, then click next to confirm your backup settings, how much disk space backup will take up, and which drives will be backed up. Then click on start backup,
The backup content will be written to the portable hard drive.
At the end, a prompt will pop up asking if to create a system repair disc. There is no need to create it here, so click [No] to successfully complete the backup.
Then close all windows, open the portable hard drive, and view the names of the files backed up once, using the computer’s name by default. This file can be modified to a name that is more convenient for you to remember
For example, adjusting to Red Hair and Blue Fatty – Backup-2023
Then create some files on the desktop and test the restoration effect. When your computer encounters problems and you want to recover, click on the Start menu, hold down Shift, and click Restart.

Prompt again that the restore will replace all data on the drive with the data in the system image. Click Yes

I found that all the test files on the desktop I just created have disappeared and returned to the backup state.
